Abstract
HANJO BERRESSEM received his M.A. from the University of Aachen in West Germany in 1983 and is currently both finishing his dissertation, "The Language of the Self and the Language of Society in the works of Thomas Pynchon," and working on a comparative study of the semiotics of the word and the image. His publications include articles on Pynchon, Coetzee, Brooke-Rose, Baudrillard, and post-structuralist theory. He now teaches English and American literature at the University of Aachen.
